CSR nominated for three SRA Awards

As CSR celebrates its tenth birthday earlier this year, and following recent success at The Community Radio Awards, we are delighted to announce we have been nationally recognised by the Student Radio Association (SRA) for our work over the past year.

Overall we have been shortlisted three times, picking up our first nomination for ‘Best Student Radio Station’ in our ten year history. Over fifty stations across the country belong to the SRA, and this nomination means CSR are ranked as one of the top six stations in the country for our efforts over the past year.

Alongside this, we have also been shortlisted for ‘Best Specialist Programming’, with the ‘Rock on CSR’ team being recognised for their weekly Thursday night dedicated to rock and metal. The station have also been shortlisted for ‘Best SRA Chart Show’, a project that saw the CSR team takeover over the Student Radio Chart show broadcasted on other student and community stations across the country.

James Love, CSR Station Manager 2016/17 and student at Canterbury Christ Church University said, “I’m extremely proud to have been part of the station last year, we celebrated our tenth birthday and these nominations are the icing on the cake, in what’s been a great year for the station”.

The winners of each category will be announced at an awards ceremony at the indigO2, London, on Thursday, November the 9th.

Jake Peach, CSR’s current Station Manager and nominated as part of the Best SRA Chart Show team said: “I’m very proud of the station for all of its achievements in the last year; everyone that is part of CSR has worked really hard and as a great team to make great radio. For this to be recognised amongst other student stations across the UK is fantastic!”

This has been a very successful year for CSR as we celebrate our tenth anniversary in 2017. We picked up two awards at the I Love Student Radio Awards in April 2017, one for Aaron Cross who is CSR’s Technical Manager and another for our live music event ‘CSR Presents’. Just recently in September one of our presenters, Laura Perry, won Gold at the Community Radio Awards for her specialist music show, ‘The Urban LP’. We also got the good news that our Ofcom Community Licence has been extended and we will be continue to broadcast in Canterbury until 2022.
