CSR is Canterbury's local community & student radio station. The station, broadcasting out of two studios running simultaneously from the University of Kent and Canterbury Christ Church University holds a Community FM license and broadcasts on 97.4 FM to local district, as well as online worldwide. Anyone aged 18 or over can join CSR, and can do so as of 9am January 20th 2014 (GMT).
CSR offers its members invaluable radio experience in a variety of ways, from on-air roles such as presenting or producing their own show, to off-air roles in the fields of music research, playlisting, production, journalism, marketing and advertising, social media, event planning and management, technical support, web & graphic design and more.
CSR is governed by CYSM Ltd, a limited company set up to bring together the four funding partners of the station and its directors. The station is funded by the University of Kent, Kent Union, Canterbury Christ Church University and Christ Church Students' Union. 2 full-time staff are employed by CYSM and Kent Union to support the volunteer-led station in maintaining its key commitments set by the Ofcom license, as well as to shape and facilitate growth of the station. This year the station received funding from Ofcom for additional staff support.
